Jennifer A. Kimball

Jennifer Kimball is a business litigation and bankruptcy attorney who practices primarily in the areas of creditors’ rights, debtor/creditor litigation and commercial bankruptcy.  She has successfully represented both creditors and debtors in state and federal courts in fraud and fraudulent transfer actions, personal guaranty actions, commercial mortgage and mechanics lien foreclosures, commercial evictions, UCC trade disputes, business ownership disputes and business dissolution actions.  She is also experienced in specialized litigation such as replevin and post-judgment collection efforts.

Ms. Kimball’s commercial bankruptcy practice includes counseling and representing businesses that are navigating the bankruptcy of a customer, supplier, or other third party.  She advocates for secured and unsecured creditors in contested matters in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcies, and she has prosecuted and defended numerous adversary proceedings including discharge and dischargeability actions and preference defense.  Ms. Kimball also has represented business debtors in voluntary and involuntary Chapter 7 cases and has participated in the reorganization of Chapter 11 debtors from the filing of the bankruptcy petition through plan confirmation.

Ms. Kimball graduated with High Honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she participated in the Chicago-Kent Honors Scholar Program.  Ms. Kimball holds a bachelors degree in finance and, prior to obtaining her J.D., she spent seven years working for corporate America in project management, purchasing and merchandising. 

Ms. Kimball is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, in the Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and in the District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the District of Minnesota.  She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Northwest Suburban Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
